One of the biggest challenges an incoming college freshman has is transitioning to be a (mostly) independent person. Going from a fairly set schedule to all the freedoms college allows can sometimes be overwhelming.
The Office of Accepted Students & Bearkat Orientation (ASBO) at Sam Houston State University has found a way to ease the transitional period for the student, as well as their family.
ASBO provides the essential tools needed for every Bearkat’s time to be successful while attending SHSU. “With purposeful programming, intentional communication, and positive introductions, ASBO fosters belonging that encourages students to persist through their college experience.”
The transitional period does not just apply to incoming freshman, and ASBO does make an effort to help support transferring students as well.
For 10 years, ASBO has been working with C.C. Creations to help create a long-lasting impression on the Bearkat community as soon as they hit campus.
